How your player identity works and what Google Play Games adds.
Your identity
When you first open the game it creates an online player identity for you automatically. That is what lets your progress sync to the cloud. See Progress and saving.
Google Play Games
Signing in to Google Play Games lets you:
- Appear on the leaderboards.
- Earn achievements.
- Move to a new device and keep your progress.
Switching your Google Play Games profile no longer creates a duplicate identity (fixed in 2.0). Signing in with Google after launching offline also works now.
When two saves disagree
If the save on your device and the cloud save differ, the game asks which to keep and shows each one’s level, coins and slimes discovered. Choose carefully: the other save is replaced. See Progress and saving.
